President John H. Kirkenir

John H. Kirkenir serves as Managing Member/Principal with Alliance Homes LLC and Affiliates and Broker of Record/Principal with Benchmark Realty LLC. Mr. Kirkenir is a former Certified Public Accountant with experience in a “Big Eight” accounting firm (Touche Ross and Co.) and for the last 30 years has been involved in Residential and Commercial Real Estate development. Mr. Kirkenir is a Life Director on NJBA’s Board of Directors and chairs NJBA’sLegislative Affairs Committee,. He also serves as a Trustee on the Builders Political Action Committee Board of Trustees. Previously, Mr. Kirkenir chaired NJBA’s Environmental Affairs, Budget & Finance, Land Use & Redevelopment, and Legal Action Committees. Mr. Kirkenir was inducted into NJBA’s Builder Hall of Fame in 2012. He has served as Vice President of State Affairs and currently serves as a Life Director on the Builders League of South Jersey’s Board. Mr. Kirkenir holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Gettysburg College.

Vice President Thomas F. Troy

For the past 31 years, Thomas Troy has been the senior executive responsible for day-to-day management activities of Sharbell Development Corp. and its subsidiaries. Mr. Troy is  responsible for land acquisition, financing, approvals, project implementation, sales/marketing oversight and overall financial performance of the company. As a member of the Association for 31 years he has chaired and served on numerous committees.  He currently chairs NJBA’s Legislative Affairs Committee and has previously chaired NJBA’s Environmental Affairs, Budget & Finance, Land Use & Redevelopment and Legal Action Committees. NJBA Honored Mr. Troy with the Preservation of the American Dream Award in 2002. Mr. Troy served several terms as an officer of the Builders Association of Central NJ before that local merged with the NJ Shore Builders Association, today Shore Builders Association of Central NJ. Through Sharbell, Mr. Troy is also involved in a wide range of civic services and corporate sponsorships through such causes as: The Miracle League, Habitat for Humanity, local school based clubs and community based non-profit organizations. Mr. Troy completed a Bachelors in Architecture from the Pratt Institute and has been a licensed Architect in the State of Florida since 1984.

Tresurer Corey T. Wescoe

As Director of Acquisitions for PulteGroup, Mr. Wescoe oversees all of the Division’s site selection, underwriting, negotiation, and land purchases throughout eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and southern New York. Mr. Wescoe is based in the Division’s Basking Ridge office and focuses on identifying new development opportunities, due diligence analysis, strategic forward planning, and delivering the company an adequate supply of land in high-barrier-to-entry markets. Mr. Wescoe has been responsible for the sourcing and contracting of projects totaling in excess of 3,000 homes.

Mr. Wescoe began his career with PulteGroup in 2004, and has held a variety of roles within the company. In addition to these responsibilities, Mr. Wescoe currently sits as the Treasurer of the New Jersey Builders Association, and has served on the Association’s Board of Directors for the past 10 years. Prior to Mr. Wescoe’s election as a state officer, he served as the youngest President in the history of the Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey, successfully navigating the association through the housing downturn, while also working with legislators and local businesses to address the local impacts as a result of Superstorm Sandy. Mr. Wescoe was also recently appointed to the Rutgers University Center for Real Estate’s Emerging Leaders Council.

Mr. Wescoe holds degrees in Economics and Political Science from Rutgers College, Rutgers University and currently resides in Bridgewater, NJ with his wife and 2 children.

Secretary Michael V Canuso

Michael V Canuso serves as Vice President of Canuso Communities where he is responsible for daily operations, project acquisition, securing entitlements, managing project improvements, project out sale and oversight of sales and marketing. Since inception in 1967, Canuso Communities has developed over 100 subdivisions comprised of over 7,000 home sites and in excess of 1 million sq. ft. of nonresidential space. In 2016, Mr. Canuso became a Partner in Canuso Homes.

Michael Canuso served proudly as president of the Builders League of Southern New Jersey and served on numerous committees at the local level before being appointed to the state leadership ladder at the New Jersey Builders Association.

Michael sits on the board of the Canuso Foundation and is directly involved in fundraising to support the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, The Ronald McDonald House and Families afflicted with childhood cancer or disabilities. The Canuso Foundation has raised in excess of 2 million dollars since its inception in 1974, and has given 61 partial scholarships for Villanova students who have experienced a hardship caused by a diagnosis of cancer.

Mr. Canuso served in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the Finance Corp., where he was deployed as part of Operation Joint Guard/Operation Joint Endeavor, stationed in Sarajevo, Bosnia/Herzegovina, and Zagreb, Croatia. Mr. Canuso received numerous awards including the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Nato Medal, Army Service Ribbon and German Marksmanship Medal.

Mr. Canuso received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing/Finance from Villanova University.

Michael resides in Mullica Hill NJ with his loving wife Debbie and 4 sons.

Builder Vice President Josh M. Mann, Esq.

Josh M. Mann, Esq. is a Partner at Seaview Capital Partners LLC, a company that owns, operates and develops real estate as well as purchase distressed debt.  Josh started at Seaview after 10 years as an attorney and three years as a partner at two of New Jersey’s largest law firms.  While in private practice, Josh represented clients in large scale redevelopment projects, in complex transactions and before land use boards throughout the state. Additionally, Josh represented investment funds and individuals in the acquisition of distressed debt portfolios and investments.  Josh has helped draft legislation and testified before both State Assembly and Senate committees on foreclosure related matters.

Josh is a graduate of Syracuse University, where he majored in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science, and Rutgers Law School in Newark, where he served as a Governor’s Executive Fellow through the Eagleton Institute of Politics. He is a past Vice President of the Metropolitan Builders and Contractors Association and a member of the Emerging Leader’s Council of the Rutgers School of Real Estate.

Associate Vice President John J. Healey

John Healey, General Manager, is currently celebrating his 20th year with Pella Windows & Doors. His specific focus with Pella is heading up their Installed Sales Division. Previously, John was a Trade Sales Manager, Branch Manager and Field Sales Representative for the company. Pella is a current Master Sponsor of NJBA as has been for many years. Mr. Healey Chairs the Associates Committee and has previously Chaired the Member Services and Convention Committees. He is also an active member of the Metro Builders and Contractors Association where he serves on the Board of Directors. He had previously served on the Executive Committee of Metro and chaired numerous committees. Mr. Healey was inducted into the NJBA Associate Hall of Fame in 2015 after having received the Associate of the Year Award in 2014. Mr. Healey notes that he finds being a very active member of the State and Local Associations not only provides Pella with an opportunity to network with the building community, but also offers him an opportunity to get involved with the important issues that challenge our industry. Mr. Healey holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in American Studies from Franklin and Marshall College.

2nd Associate Vice President Michael T. Kurpiel, CGA, CGP

Michael T. Kurpiel, CGA, CGP, is Business Development & Industry Relations Manager for Universal Supply Company, where he cultivates new business opportunities as well as being Universal’s representative in the building industry trade associations. Mr. Kurpiel currently chairs NJBA’s Membership Committee and co-chairs its Convention Committee. Mr. Kurpiel became a member in 1985 as a builder and successfully transitioned to the supply side of building homes. Mr. Kurpiel is a member of the Builders and Remodelers Association of Northern New Jersey, the Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey and the Builders League of South Jersey. Mr. Kurpiel has been recognized by NJBA with several awards including the Spike Advocate Award, the Associate of the Year, Associate Continuing Service and Associate Hall of Fame Awards, the Silver Handshake Award and the Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Political Action.

3rd Associate Vice President Michael Borodinsky

Michael Borodinsky currently serves as Vice President, Regional Manager Builder Branch Manager for Caliber Home Loans. A graduate of the University of Delaware and a 30 Year mortgage industry veteran, Michael has funded over 4 billion dollars in residential mortgage loans to over 12,000 customers over the course of his career.  He has been honored as the top producing loan officer at Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Met Life, Sun Home Loans and at Caliber. He was awarded the  5 Star Professional Designation, which honors the best mortgage lending officers via customer service rankings for the past 5 years..  He has been ranked amongst the top originating loan officers nationwide for the past 15 years. Throughout his career, Michael has specialized in supporting the new home building industry and has been a member of the New Jersey Builders Association (NJBA) for the past 25 years. Mr. Borodinsky currently serves as the Associate Vice Chair of the Builders Political Action Committee and has previously served as chair of NJBA’s Sales and Marketing Committee. He has been honored by the NJBA with the prestigious “Chairman’s Award” for his contributions to the sales, marketing, and political action committees.  He has been inducted into the NJBA Associate Hall of Fame and has been awarded the Associate of the Year by the NJBA for 2013 as well as the Associate Continuing Service Award for 2016.  He also received the Sales and Marketing Award(SAM) as Associate Sales Manager of the Year by the NJBA.

CEO Carol Ann Short, Esq.

Carol Ann Short, Esq. is a seasoned government-relations professional with extensive experience in the policy and management of housing related issues in New Jersey. She assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer in 2013 after having served as the Association’s Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Short was initially hired by NJBA over 30 years ago as the Executive Director of the NJBA affiliate established to support the fast-growing condominium market. She left the Association briefly to practice law only to return to serve in an expanded capacity as the Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs. Ms. Short has been instrumental in successfully lobbying for the enactment of pro-building legislative initiatives including, five Permit Extension Acts, the Water Quality Management Plan law and extension of that law, the Time of Application Law, amendments to the Redevelopment law, Age-Restricted Conversion law, and numerous others. Ms. Short has been included on the 2013 and 2014 lists of the 50 Most Powerful People in Real Estate and in 2013 was also selected as one of the 50 Best Women in Business by NJBIZ Magazine. Ms. Short earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at The College of New Jersey and a Juris Doctor degree from Temple University. She is licensed to practice law in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association. She was appointed by the Office of Attorney Ethics of the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a member of the Fee Arbitration Committee for Mercer County. Ms. Short is a Board member of the MIDJersey Center for Economic Development, a member of the National Association of Professional Women and has served as a domestic violence volunteer for Womanspace, Inc.
