NJBA & NAHB Meet with NJ Congressional Delegation on Federal Tax Reform

Congressman Frank LoBiondo

Congressman Chris Smith

Congressman Albio Sires

NAHB 3rd Vice Chair Dean Mon and NJBA CEO Carol Ann Short, Esq. met with members of NJ’s Congressional delegation to express concern over the House tax reform proposal due to its detrimental impact to NJ residents and housing market. Ultimately, the House tax plan passed 227-205 with all members of the NJ delegation voting against the measure, except for Congressman Tom MacArthur. The bill now heads to the US Senate where members are considering an alternative, but equally troubling tax reform proposal that also eliminates deductions commonly used in high tax states like NJ.
